A $12,000 Nissan 350Z with a tired LS replaces Gears and Gasoline's S2000

Ben and Jaws pull the V8 from the drift car, and the comments cannot stop repeating its price.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

"I sold my S2000 and bought THIS" is the one new video on Gears and Gasoline, the car-modification channel that promises a fresh upload every Saturday morning. The THIS turns out to be a Nissan 350Z with an LS V8 shoehorned in, bought, as viewers keep pointing out, for about $12,000, and in rough shape.

The chapters tell the story better than any summary could. There is a "great LS identification hunt", a stretch billed as "the Ben and Jaws show", another motor pull, and finally the engine coming out with some bonus parts rattling around inside it. The video opens with a chapter called "this is a video about pasta", which the comment section has happily taken up: one of the most liked jokes asks to see a pasta K24 swap. Plenty of others are busy with bolts left hand-tight or missing entirely, a few spot Ben's dad near the sixteen-minute mark, and the most liked comment of all simply mourns the S2000.

That goodbye has a prequel. Two weeks ago "This is the worst part of being into cars." sent off the DSM Talon after a rebuild by a friend named Jesse, and it has passed half a million views. It is still the channel's second busiest video, while the August supercharged Mustang GT has gone quiet.

The channel's daily views are running well under their usual level, at about a third of a normal day. Among the car channels around its size, Junkyard Digs and Rob Dahm are having the loud weeks, and Gears and Gasoline sits mid-table for views gained, fourth of nine.
