Former Dallas Cowboys star Dez Bryant was cited for assault after a heated argument in a Southlake.

Dez Bryant demands to know why he is being filmed as bystanders step between people in a Southlake parking lot. The cellphone footage is at the center of FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth's report that the former Dallas Cowboys star was cited for assault following the dispute.

The station reports that Bryant yelled at two young adults and slapped a phone from one person's hand. In the footage, he approaches a woman holding a camera and says, "Why you recording me? You tell them what y'all was doing."

The report also includes Bryant's account that he was defending himself. The citation is not a conviction.

The Short reached about 84,000 views in 15 hours, far beyond the station's usual first-day audience for that format. Its comment section was also substantially busier than usual, with several viewers asking what happened before the recording began. Those questions do not establish what preceded the confrontation shown in FOX 4's clip.
