WFAA's broadcast of a Dallas police briefing details multiple overnight shootings in that left four people dead and approximately fifteen others injured. Speaking on a cordoned-off street, E.G. Comeaux confirmed that all three scenes were within the neighborhood.

Investigators had not established a connection between them. "At this time we have no information that they are related, but we're still doing investigation," Comeaux said.

Reporters questioned whether police had enough officers in the area and how they regained control. Comeaux said staffing had been increased for Saturday night's Halloween celebrations. Asked about officers' use of pepper spray or pepper balls, he said they had done what they felt was necessary to bring the scene under control.

The briefing drew nearly 48,000 views in thirteen hours, far beyond the usual early audience for WFAA's regular videos. Its central request was for help with the investigation: Comeaux urged anyone with photographs, videos or social media clips to contact police. Detectives were interviewing witnesses and people who had been arrested.
