"Orlando Weather Forecast: Tracking Isaias and heavy rain for Florida" hands FOX 35 Orlando's storm coverage to Brooks Garner, the station's senior meteorologist. He follows Isaias as it grows from a tropical system toward hurricane strength and explains what it means for Central Florida. The description sums it up in three words: heavy rain ahead.

Two days ago, as we reported here, Noah Bergren was looking at a storm that did not exist yet. Now it has a name and a track, and Garner's forecast drew close to 80,000 views in its first 15 hours. A regular-length video on this channel usually gets under 1,500 in a whole first day.

The comment section is busy too, and on a typical first day it gets almost nothing. Its running joke is the name. Viewers try it out loud, trip over it and turn it into puns, including one about a rapper. Isaias is the Spanish and Portuguese form of Isaiah, said roughly ees-ah-EE-ahs. Other commenters measure the storm against Hurricane Ian, which Central Florida still remembers from 2022, and a few ask where it heads after landfall.

The station's tropics update, posted the next morning, says Isaias is expected to become the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season on its way toward the northern Gulf Coast. That would be a late start: in an average year, the first hurricane forms around mid-August.

FOX 35 had a second unusually busy video the same day, far from the Gulf. Dr. George Rust of the FSU College of Medicine spoke with Garrett Wymer about a possible case of pneumonic plague in Russia, which the World Health Organization rates as a very low risk internationally.
