"Knocked Out The Referee LITERALLY": Butterbean's 1995 night against Pat Jackson

A second Butterbean clip in a week pulls ahead on the boxing clips channel, this one from his unbeaten early run in Louisiana.

Why this story? The video is running at 21,306 views a day, 23 times its usual pace (923).

Butterbean is having quite a week on Florid Miston. As we reported here, the boxing clips channel's "When A Young Boy Dropped Giant Butterbean" was the upload that would not sit still. Now a second clip of the Alabama heavyweight is doing the same, and doing it faster.

"The Night Butterbean Knocked Out The Referee LITERALLY" went up on October 3 and had a quiet first day, with fewer than a thousand views. Then it turned. It is now drawing more than 20,000 views a day, far beyond anything else the channel has posted lately.

The fight is Butterbean against Pat Jackson, from October 25, 1995, in Louisiana. The description places it early in his professional career, with Butterbean arriving unbeaten at 11-0. That was years before 2002, when he went the full distance with Larry Holmes. The knocked-out referee is the title's billing. The description sticks to the fight itself and does not say what happened to the official. The only comment so far jokes that the night produced a TKO and a knockout at the same time.

It is a quiet stretch for the combat-sports channels close to its size. Sky Sports Boxing and Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship are both well below their usual pace, and Florid Miston as a whole is running a little under its own.

The rest of the channel's recent lineup is classic heavyweight material, most of it titled in the house "When..." style: Muhammad Ali against Britain's Joe Bugner in 1973, George Foreman meeting Tommy Morrison, Tyson Fury surviving Deontay Wilder, Mike Tyson against Jake Paul. Each sits at around a thousand views. The one clip that breaks the pattern, both in its title and in its star, is the one carrying the channel.
