'Courtroom Insider' in Ohio: Alleigha Botner's attorney speaks out on Caleb Flynn trial
After the verdict and the defense's turn, Courtroom Insider found another voice in the Caleb Flynn case: the attorney for Alleigha Botner. Nate Eaton sat down with lawyer Nick Gounaris in Troy, Ohio. The description identifies Botner as the woman Flynn was having an affair with when his wife, Ashley Flynn, was killed in their home in February.
Gounaris covers three things in the interview. He describes what Botner says happened. He addresses whether she will face criminal charges. Most of them are about Botner and the question the interview itself raises: what part she played, and whether the law will treat her as having played one.
That is a long way from home for East Idaho News, which is based in Idaho Falls. On the same day it posted an adoption appeal for seven dogs and three cats from the local shelter. Its Ohio coverage has kept going around this episode. A shorter clip of the same attorney's remarks drew a much smaller crowd. So did a short from Flynn's brief hearing on the violent offender registry, where the description says he cried as the judge questioned him. The next day, Eaton turned to Christa Pike's failed execution in Tennessee with Beth Karas.
Flynn, convicted on Tuesday, is due to be sentenced on Monday, and the channel plans to stream it live.
