Aging is an unusual problem for a character so often preoccupied with keeping other people alive or dead. On Dexter Official, Scott Reynolds gives it a central place in the new season: "And then this season, we hit into the midlife crisis."
The writer and executive producer joins Jamie Chung for the return of Dexter: Final Cut, the official Resurrection aftershow. Their premiere discussion was the most watched of the channel's three new uploads, reaching about 33,000 views. Reynolds explains developing the episode with Clyde Phillips, pitching directions to Michael C. Hall, and putting Dexter behind the wheel as a rideshare driver. Obnoxious passengers offer plenty of scope for that familiar internal commentary.
The conversation also gets into Harrison's law-enforcement career, Brian Cox's casting as Don Fram and Dan Stevens' killer using AirDrop to spread messages. Cox's presence brings an amusing distinction from Reynolds: "The first time he came on set, I was just like, I don't see Logan Roy." Viewers, meanwhile, are discussing Batista's appearance in Dexter's mind, imagining further ghostly returns and asking for Hall to join an aftershow episode.
A separate behind-the-scenes upload focuses on Hall and Eric Stonestreet's physical confrontation. It is drawing views faster now than the full discussion, though the older "Wait for it ✋ #Dexter" has the most daily momentum of the three highlighted videos.
Across the channel, the week brought roughly two million views and a growing subscriber audience. Daily viewing is modestly above its usual level. Nearby TV channels offer a mixed backdrop: Brooklyn Nine-Nine is also running above its normal daily viewing, while SHOWTIME and NBC are quieter than usual. Dexter's distinctive contribution is the chance to hear its writer explain how a familiar inner voice changes as its owner gets older.
