Toronto police have released a photograph of a man wanted in connection with the Bridle Path home invasion, warning that all three suspects are considered armed and dangerous.
In the briefing posted by CP24, a spokesperson says four family members were assaulted during the Thursday morning attack near Bayview Avenue and Post Road, with victims shot or struck with a hammer. The public is urged not to approach the wanted man.
Police say he later arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. Investigators believe one of the other suspects accidentally shot him during the home invasion. Asked why he was not arrested at the hospital, the spokesperson explains the timeline and the need to establish reasonable grounds for an arrest.
The briefing also addresses whether the attackers deliberately selected the family. Police identify burglary as the apparent motive, with the spokesperson saying: "I have nothing to suggest this is targeted whatsoever."
CP24's upload drew about 85,000 views in thirteen hours, already well beyond its usual full-day audience for regular videos. A separate explanation from CTV public safety analyst Chris Lewis about the hospital encounter also drew unusually strong viewing, alongside the channel's coverage of a statement released by the family.
