'Stocks hit record highs: Your next move' turns the comments to market timing
The Investment Committee's latest session drew more than four times a usual full day's comments in nine hours, many from viewers who expected the market to be lower by now.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 93,458 views a day, 13 times a normal first day on this channel (7,242).
Stocks hit record highs: Your next move
"Stocks hit record highs: Your next move" is the latest Investment Committee segment from the Halftime Report, the midday show Scott Wapner hosts. Here CNBC Television returns to a question it has asked more than once lately: what do you do with a market that keeps setting records?
The day before, an earlier session from the same committee passed 50,000 views within ten hours, as we reported here. This one got there in nine. For a channel whose regular videos usually finish their first day well under 10,000, two such starts back to back are not the routine.
The comment section moved faster still. In nine hours it collected more than four times as many comments as a usual full first day, and the most liked of them is a confession: a viewer who was sure, a year ago, that the market would be lower by now. Others joke that recession calls have filled these comments for years and will eventually come true. Some rib Steve Weiss for selling early, and some ask whether Stephanie Link is ever anything but bullish. One viewer wants the name of the panelist who argued for a single rate hike and would not back down.
The same day, a different subject brought a second crowd: President Trump announcing a $6.6 billion shipbuilding project with Anduril in Baltimore County, Maryland.

What viewers say
Another record high proves you can't time the market. A year ago I was sure the market would be much lower by now.
