Canada as the threat on the map: Clyde Do Something's 'This Escalated QUICKLY..'
The commentary on Tom Homan's turn toward the northern border led a busy Monday of uploads, with an asylum video from the same day close behind.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 334,160 views a day, 8.4 times a normal first day on this channel (39,862).
This Escalated QUICKLY.. 🤯☠️
A new video from Clyde Do Something usually ends its first day somewhere around 40,000 views. "This Escalated QUICKLY.." passed 230,000 in its first twelve hours.
The title hides the subject, and the description spells it out. This time the channel, whose about text calls its maker a mechanic as well as a political and current events commentator, turns to the northern border. The description frames Canada's immigration policy as a security threat to the United States and points to two things: Tom Homan, the border czar who ran ICE as its acting director in Trump's first term, planning to focus on the Canadian border for the next two years, and the House passing the Northern Border Security Enhancement & Review Act on September 16.
The comments came in quickly, more than twice a usual first day's worth in half a day. Much of the conversation crosses the border. Several commenters introduce themselves as Canadians, and the talk moves from Washington to Ottawa and Queen's Park, with Mark Carney, Doug Ford and an Alberta independence vote all coming up. Others write in to back Homan.
It was one of several uploads Clyde posted on October 5. "We Need To Make Asylums Great Again" had already gone past 350,000 views a little over a day after going up, and "Absolute Madness" also started well ahead of the channel's usual pace.
