Terror birds from Roland Emmerich's 10,000 B.C. swoop in for ClipZone: High Octane Hits
The clips channel's three uploads ran from a prehistoric chase to a second helping of The Meg and Deep Blue Sea.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
10,000 B.C | Fight Against The Terror Birds | ClipZone: High Octane Hits
ClipZone: High Octane Hits, a clips channel built on big-screen action from the Warner Bros. catalog, spent its week in the deep past. The first of its three uploads lifts the terror bird attack from 10,000 B.C., Roland Emmerich's 2008 adventure starring Steven Strait as the young hunter D'Leh and Camilla Belle as Evolet. In five days it has come close to half a million views, and a short cut of the same chase followed two days later.
The comments are a small seminar in paleontology. Viewers point out saddled horses and cavemen speaking English, one recognizes the birds from Walking With Prehistoric Beasts, and several suggest the film would have gone down better billed as pure fantasy than as history.
The newest upload goes back to the water: part two of a shark compilation, pulling scenes from The Meg, Meg 2: The Trench and both Deep Blue Sea films. Meanwhile an older clip has not let go. Guy Ritchie's King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, posted nearly a month ago with Charlie Hunnam fighting for Camelot, is still the second busiest video on the channel.
Taken together, the channel is drawing well above its usual daily audience, about nine million views over the week, with roughly 10,000 new subscribers. Among similar movie channels, only Rock Movie added more views, in a very big week of its own. RedLetterMedia, Channel Awesome and Mr Sunday Movies are all running around twice their usual pace too, while Lindsay Ellis is having a quieter stretch and Heavy Spoilers is holding steady.
