Another Power Rangers series stalls, and Black Nerd Comedy says 'We Need To Talk'

Andre Black Nerd's weary take on the Disney+ news has viewers dreaming up the cartoon version the franchise never got.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 61,466 views a day, 16 times a normal first day on this channel (3,925).

Power Rangers... We Need To Talk...Power Rangers... We Need To Talk...

A new video from Andre Black Nerd usually ends its first day somewhere near 4,000 views. "Power Rangers... We Need To Talk..." went past 60,000, and the subject explains a lot: the franchise he has talked about for years has lost another show before it ever reached a screen.

The news is a planned Power Rangers series for Disney+ that is not moving forward. In the description Andre says that after this and the Netflix project, he is tired of hearing "in development" and "in talks" about this franchise. Hasbro's earlier plan with Netflix, a connected series overseen by showrunner Jenny Klein, also fell apart before filming. So Andre has been here before.

The comment section quickly built its own running joke. Commenters note that the reports call the cancelled show "live action," as if the franchise had ever made anything else. From there, many viewers pitch the animated series it never had, some modeled on recent cartoon reboots of other 1990s heroes. Others ask for a finale to Hyperforce, the role-play web series that ended without one, or want Andre to go through Super Sentai, the Japanese shows that supplied the original footage. A few say Power Rangers videos are how they found the channel more than a decade ago.

The next day he posted a short rant called "Reboots: No One Knows They Want." It reads like a footnote to the Rangers video.
