Cracked iPhone screens bring CBS Mornings a million-view tech story

Jo Ling Kent hears from a buyer whose iPhone Duo broke during setup, while Frank Miller brings Batman into the week's interviews.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Jesse Dalton had barely unpacked his new phone when he heard a loud pop. "The screen just cracked right in the middle," he tells Jo Ling Kent in CBS Mornings' most-watched upload of the week.

The report has reached about 1.6 million views. Kent shows customers' inner displays cracked along the fold and reports Apple's acknowledgment of an issue affecting the screen, with replacements offered to affected buyers. Back at the anchor table, Nate Burleson supplies a different experience: his own Duo has been working fine. In the comments, viewers keep returning to the gap between a premium price and the durability they expect.

That consumer-tech report was part of a seventeen-upload week. A report about a diverted United flight also drew a large audience, while Dr. Shelby Harris's clock-change advice reached nearly 190,000 views. There was room for a creative conversation, too: Vlad Duthiers interviewed Frank Miller about his process and memoir, "Push the Wall." Miller's transformation of Batman has a particularly clear touchstone in his 1986 comic The Dark Knight Returns.

The Miller interview is now adding views faster than the iPhone report. Above both in daily viewing is the earlier Tyler Shultz interview about Nathan Fielder's Elizabeth Holmes documentary.

Across the channel, daily views are moderately above their usual level, though subscribers were unchanged over the week. CBS Mornings added slightly more weekly views than TODAY, while Good Morning America had a smaller week. For CBS Mornings, the newest active draw takes the conversation away from fragile screens and into Miller's work on the page.
