Mat Watson is trying to explain the Audi A6 allroad. The voice assistant keeps joining in, uninvited. For a review arguing that an estate can do the jobs people buy SUVs for, the most persistent obstacle turns out to be inside the dashboard.

The new carwow upload has drawn about 59,000 views in just over two hours. It puts the diesel-powered Audi through rough-lane driving, acceleration runs, a suitcase test and the less glamorous business of fitting boot dividers. That last task earns its own stress-meter graphic, before Watson throws a divider into the grass.

There is substance behind the SUV challenge. Watson raises the standard air suspension to clear rough ground, then praises the cushioning it provides around town. On country roads, he singles out the all-wheel-drive grip, diesel torque and smooth gearbox. The acceleration test delivers a sprint to motorway-adjacent speed in under five seconds, while the boot accommodates ten carry-on suitcases with the rear seats upright.

Inside, the enthusiasm becomes more qualified. Watson criticises touch panels and screens, although the panoramic roof's individually dimming sections get a demonstration. Viewers are picking up the same threads: requests for physical buttons, questions about screen-heavy dashboards and jokes about his recurring struggles with voice assistants.

Price is the other sticking point. The heavily optioned test car costs more than £90,000, enough to make Watson pause despite his enjoyment behind the wheel. The review also contains a sponsored vehicle-history-check segment.

His final recommendation nevertheless lands firmly on buying it. After all the interruptions and irritation, Watson calls the A6 allroad "the best Audi on sale."
