2027 Mazda CX-6e review: Why I would NOT buy one
Things we can learn from the video
Press to jump
- 6:14The large infotainment display offers navigation and smartphone mirroring, but Maric finds its interface laggy.
- 13:23The reverse camera fails and dashboard screens freeze during the road test.
- 14:26Mazda attributes the press vehicle's technical problems to pre-production software.
- 20:00Maric finds the lane-centring system wanders and disengages during assisted-driving tests.
- 22:16The CX-6e fails the inclined roller test in Normal, Sport and ESC-off settings.
- 29:02Maric cannot recommend the car, citing software bugs and calibration problems.
What happens when the screens stop cooperating halfway through a car review? Paul Maric keeps the faults in, then adds Mazda's response. That makes "2027 Mazda CX-6e review: Why I would NOT buy one" considerably more useful than its blunt title alone suggests.
During the road test, the reverse camera stops working and dashboard screens freeze. A studio cut-in explains that Mazda attributed the problems to pre-production software on the press vehicle. Maric's objections extend beyond those glitches: he questions the digital mirrors, criticises the assisted-driving calibration and finds the rear-wheel-drive SUV unable to complete the inclined roller test in any of the modes he tries.
The review reached roughly 102,000 views, making it the most watched of CarExpert's two new uploads. Viewers are discussing the trade-offs behind all that technology: screen-based controls, camera mirrors and electric door releases. Others ask for more real-world range information, a practical counterpoint to the cabin debate.
The other new upload swaps software frustration for a V12 soundtrack. "Ferrari Purosangue Handling Speciale review…has it transformed this V12 beast?" examines a handling package available only when ordering the car new, asking whether its extra sharpness makes enough difference.
Across the catalogue, the Pajero off-road review remains the busiest daily draw, with the Mazda next and the Navara plug-in hybrid first look also active. CarExpert added a thousand subscribers over the week, while daily viewing sits close to its usual level. Nearby, Pushing Pistons had a particularly large week and Garbage Time also drew substantial viewing; CarExpert's own week belonged to the less glamorous but revealing business of testing whether new-car features actually work.

@Bill-ki4zfSee it on YouTubeGotta say, that exterior is just stunning, especially in Mazda red.
@Locky8888See it on YouTubeOne thing I've been banging on about for years, is that Paul needs to give us a real world range, or at least what he's seeing based on a mix of city and real world.

No driver’s display? I’m out. The lack of physical controls just makes it worse. The outside looks nice, the functionality not so much.
@thelorax9622See it on YouTubeWhat’s with the glass roofs ? Every new car has them. Just what you need in a hot country like Australia
@AusZ900See it on YouTubeForget emergency release. The door handle should just open the door in any situation. It is where you are going to reach for. Having a separate electric release just adds cabling, solenoids and other stuff that can break down easily. Then you still have to have the mechanical release anyway. Pointless addition.
