Sam Eyles raises an engine-failure question over his Cummins Cruiser
The latest Built Not Bought episode puts a question mark over a project that had been edging towards completion.
Why this story? The whole channel is running at 114,009 views a day, 5.7 times a normal day (19,862).
CUMMINS 79 Build - Did We Just Get Catastrophic Enginer FAILURE?!
Sam Eyles had been ticking off the finishing jobs on his heavily modified Land Cruiser: doors, wiring, an airbox, a snorkel and a rear tray. The latest Built Not Bought upload poses a rather less satisfying question: has the Cummins-powered project suffered engine failure?
That is the concern raised by "CUMMINS 79 Build - Did We Just Get Catastrophic Enginer FAILURE?!", posted on Tuesday. The question in the title isn't a confirmed diagnosis, but it marks a sharp change from September's declaration that the Cruiser was nearly finished.
The episode arrives alongside a substantial viewing jump. Built Not Bought drew roughly 114,000 channel views in a day, almost six times its usual pace. That is viewing across the channel, not the new episode alone.
The appeal of this build is its unusual combination: a Toyota 79 Series fitted with a Cummins diesel and an eight-speed automatic. October's episodes had moved from wiring and custom intake fabrication to finishing the back half of the truck. Now the engine, rather than the remaining bodywork, is the question at the centre of Eyles's latest instalment.
