Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

This is why I don’t leave my puppy unattended in the backyard

Cactus's owner looks away for two seconds, and Cowboy finds himself on the wrong side of the gate. The puppy trots along the sidewalk and grass before his owner follows and scoops him up, the road uncomfortably close by.

"Hey, little man. Where are you running off to?" he asks. Back in his arms, Cowboy earns a more practical response: "We gotta take some extra precautions now."

"This is why I don't leave my puppy unattended in the backyard" was the most-watched of the channel's eight new uploads, reaching about 660,000 views. Viewers picked up on the quick retrieval and that affectionate "little man" greeting, with some remembering earlier climbing adventures.

The rest of the week had more room for domestic comforts: an exuberant greeting after a short absence, a puppy trapped beneath a sleeping dog, and some one-on-one time with dad while the youngster slept. "Rescue Puppy Gets 4 Month Birthday Surprise" gave Cowboy his first pup cup, with Cactus involved too. An escape attempt and a birthday treat make quite a puppy diary.

The audience kept growing, adding roughly 8,000 subscribers over the week, though daily views are currently below their usual level. Among nearby pet channels, Tail Talks also had a substantial week of subscriber growth, while Elie the hallway cat's subscriber count held steady.

Away from the new uploads, "Dogs react to me interrupting their perfect nap" remains busy nearly a month after publication. Apparently, interrupted sleep has a longer shelf life than an uninterrupted nap.
