Christa Pike still unconscious after botched execution, prison chief has history of problemsChrista Pike still unconscious after botched execution, prison chief has history of problems

Brian Entin's newest episode on Christa Pike opens with an update from her attorney. According to the description, Pike remains unconscious and on a ventilator after the botched execution in Tennessee, with armed guards outside her room and no clear prognosis.

From there the episode turns to two guests. The first is a veterinarian with long experience using pentobarbital. Brian asks him what may have gone wrong, and the description says the vet explains why the protocol used on pets is far more humane than the one used on people in executions. The second is Randy Gardner, whose brother Ronnie Gardner was executed by firing squad. He talks with Brian about that method and his family's experience of it. The title also points to the history of the prison chief, a subject Brian takes up in the episode.

Seven hours after it went up, the episode had close to 240,000 views. A new full episode on the channel usually ends its first day near 90,000. It already had more comments than a typical episode collects in a whole day. Many viewers write about the veterinarian's answers and about Gardner's account of his family. Others go over how the IV was placed.

This is the latest in a run of episodes Brian has posted on the case since the execution attempt, alongside his coverage of the Caleb Flynn trial.
