Nora Lum, better known as Awkwafina, has a family restaurant to revive and one small problem, which the trailer lets her state herself: she cannot cook. Awkwafina: The Unlikely Cook follows her across eight episodes, from a crash course at the Culinary Institute of America to Texas barbecue with Jimmy O. Yang, lessons from Roy Choi and Martin Yan, and a trip to Hawai'i to trace the tiki culture behind her grandmother's restaurant. The restaurant in question is Lum's, the Cantonese place in Flushing, Queens, and the series, according to its description, builds toward an opening night in Los Angeles' Chinatown with her grandmother as the hardest diner to please. It went up on Wednesday and found a quick audience, though a modest one beside the week's big trailer.

That was Nocturne, which has been the story of the channel since Tuesday. Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham lead the crime thriller, about a serial killer's victim who turns up alive, and in three days the trailer has come close to five million views. It is still drawing well over a million a day, enough to keep the whole channel running at more than double its usual daily pace.

The rest of the fifteen uploads filled in the corners: the Small Prophets trailer, with Mackenzie Crook and Michael Palin, kept moving into its second day; a Dark Matter scene gave Joel Edgerton's Jason another version of his life; and Slow Horses fans got a short reminder that Season 5 is streaming. A roundup of October's arrivals points to Matchbox The Movie with John Cena and Tenzing, about the Sherpa who reached the top of Everest with Edmund Hillary.

Among the streaming and TV channels of similar size, Paramount Plus and E! News also had busy weeks, while CBS and Channel 4 Entertainment kept close to their usual pace.
