Dead-End Job | Official Teaser | Netflix [ENG SUB]
Netflix K-Content has put out the first teaser for Dead-End Job, and it has found a crowd fast. In a little over a day it passed 360,000 views, on a channel where a new video usually opens to about a fifteenth of that.
The premise is simple and cruel. A young man buried in debt starts taking well-paid part-time jobs from a mysterious agency, and the more he chases the money, the more nightmarish the work becomes. The Korean title, 꿀알바, is slang for a cushy gig, which is the joke the whole series seems built on. The tags file it under horror, fantasy and mystery, and the full series arrives on October 30.
Lee Jae-wook leads the cast, best known to drama fans as the young sorcerer of Alchemy of Souls. Beside him the tags list Ko Min-si, of Sweet Home and Youth of May, Kim Min-ha, who made her name in Pachinko, and Lee Hee-jun. The tags also mention the Busan International Film Festival.
The comment section filled about four times faster than usual, and it keeps returning to two things. The first is Lee Jae-wook himself: many viewers note how many projects he has had this year, and one points out the deliberately unglamorous makeup that leaves his skin bare on camera. The second is Squid Game. A desperate man, a debt and an offer of easy money is a setup Netflix viewers know well, and several ask that the show stay a single season if it lands. Others compare it to the old dare about spending one night in a haunted place for a pile of cash.
The teaser has already passed the trailer for 100 Days of Deception, Kim You-jung and Park Jin-young's period romance, which went up three days earlier.
