  1. 1:44ToolIntent makes existing App Intents available as tools Siri can call, with Markdown skills and Xcode testing support.
  2. 10:30Siri weighs signals when choosing between third-party tools and built-in apps; foreground status does not automatically decide.
  3. 23:17Confirmation APIs let Siri pause for user approval before destructive or irreversible actions.
  4. 30:05App Intents Testing and Siri Evaluations provide complementary ways to test integrations.
  5. 48:38Tools and skills must be defined at build time, rather than created dynamically at runtime.
  6. 53:50Apps can expose up to 40 Tool Intents, making core workflows the priority.

Apple Developer posted three videos, with the biggest new audience gathering around a practical Siri question: how does it choose which app should handle a request?

In "Apple Intelligence Group Lab | 11/4/26 | Meet with Apple", Ernie hosts engineers from the App Intents, Foundation Models, Core AI and Siri AI teams. This is Apple's own developer guidance, and the discussion gets well beyond a feature introduction. Michael explains how the ToolIntent API makes app actions available for Siri to call, while Leslie describes the signals involved when a third-party app and a built-in option such as Calendar could both do the job. Having an app open isn't an automatic deciding vote; usage and intent donation history matter too.

There are useful boundaries alongside the possibilities. The engineers recommend confirmation requests for destructive actions and explain that tools and skills must be defined when the app is built, rather than created dynamically by users. The session has drawn about 12,000 views, the most of the week's new uploads.

A second Group Lab followed, but "Bring your Live Activities to Mac" is attracting the most daily viewing right now. Its compact promise is continuity: bringing Live Activities to macOS 27 using code developers already write for iOS.

Across the channel, the week brought roughly 108,000 views and an unchanged subscriber count. Daily viewing is running below its usual level. Among nearby technology-company channels, Amazon Alexa had a much larger viewing week and Elgato also drew a substantial audience; Apple Developer's own activity centered firmly on helping app makers connect their work to Siri and the Mac.
