I Play Rocky: Official Clip: “I Play Rocky”

Anthony Ippolito's Stallone impression has viewers listening for the little things, especially the way he delivers a familiar expression of thanks. In the comments beneath Amazon MGM Studios' new I Play Rocky clip, several people single out that small vocal detail rather than the declaration in the title.

The official film excerpt reached roughly 27,000 views in ten hours, a much faster start than the channel's usual Shorts. Its comment section has also already far outgrown a typical first day's discussion. A companion upload, "I Play Rocky | First Look Featurette", is drawing an unusually large audience too.

Ippolito plays Sylvester Stallone in the story behind Rocky, the 1976 film Stallone wrote and starred in. As we reported here, his insistence on playing the boxer himself is central to the film's premise. This time, the conversation offers another angle: how an actor recreates a voice audiences already know so well.

Some viewers distinguish between sounding like Stallone and sounding like Rocky; others suggest taking Ippolito's portrayal further into Stallone's later career. The studio's description places the film in selected cinemas already, with a wider release listed for 20 November.
