"Chris is doing the fittings; I'm going to be doing the coaching." Alex Elliott's explanation is simple, even if the move behind it is anything but: he is taking his life and business from Britain to the United States.
His upload, "It's time to say goodbye...and thank you", announces a new base at The Trott Shop at The VUE Club in Rancho Santa Fe, California. The goodbye is to the UK, not an announcement that he is stopping videos or teaching.
Elliott describes a connection with club fitter and creator Chris Trott stretching back fifteen years. Their partnership brings equipment fitting and golf instruction under the same roof, with each taking responsibility for his own speciality.
For a channel usually occupied with chipping setups, wrist positions and iron drills, this is a more personal update. Elliott thanks viewers for making the change possible, then acknowledges the mixed feelings that come with leaving family in Britain. He hopes to begin around late January or early February, subject to visa processing.
The announcement reached roughly 76,000 views in eight hours, already well beyond the channel's usual full first day. The comments are unusually busy too: American viewers offer a welcome, while others recall lessons with Elliott or years spent learning from his videos. Several UK viewers frame their replies as a farewell, even as his coaching work prepares to cross the Atlantic.
