Mark Taylor questions Australia's tactics, not their effort
The former captain rejects the "un-Australian" label and argues that short-term selections left the side without a clear plan in South Africa.

Leaving Nathan Lyon out, bringing him back, then choosing to bowl first in Cape Town: Mark Taylor sees a pattern in Australia's decisions, not just a bad final day.
In a brisk Wide World of Sports studio segment, the former Australian captain pushes back when the host raises David Warner's description of the performance as "un-Australian".
"I wouldn't go the 'un-Australian' line. I've no doubt that Pat and the boys were giving it everything they could," Taylor says.
His criticism is more specific. He argues that Australia selected reactively, without enough thought about how to win across the series. Dropping Lyon for an extra seamer in the second Test becomes his central example: Australia got into a strong bowling position but could not finish the innings.
By Cape Town, Taylor says, the side had moved away from its basic method of batting first and building scoreboard pressure. He links the difficult final-day chase to confidence that had already been worn down throughout the series.
The Short drew roughly 64,000 views in its first day, compared with the channel's usual few thousand. Its comment section was unusually busy too, with viewers discussing the decision to bowl first and one suggesting a mentoring or selection role for Taylor.
Where his earlier assessment called for a break for Marnus Labuschagne, this clip widens the concern to the team's decision-making. Taylor's closing diagnosis is plain: "I think the thinking is too short term with this side."
