The Dark Age - Animator vs. Animation 14

Alan Becker added about 100,000 subscribers in a day, as "The Dark Age - Animator vs. Animation 14" arrived on a channel with something much quieter playing alongside it: lofi versions of its animation soundtracks.

The subscriber gain is far beyond his usual daily pace. Views across the channel also climbed to more than three times their typical daily level. The new episode is part of that busy picture, but it is not the only upload moving.

"Alan Becker lofi radio - beats to animate to," running since September, drew roughly 300,000 views over the day, more than ten times its usual daily audience. Rather than another stick-figure adventure, it offers music drawn from the worlds Becker and his team have built.

Its track list makes that connection explicit: "Jazzy Note Blocks," "Green & Purple" and "Victim & Mitsi" sit alongside "Animation vs Math." The credits include original music by Sarah Eide, Aaron Grooves and Scott Buckley, with remixes among the selections.

For a channel whose desktop characters tell their stories without dialogue, the music has a role beyond filling the silence. Here, it gets an upload of its own, with a title that swaps watching animation for making it.
