A website showing government spending as it happens is One Nation's proposal for greater accountability ahead of Victoria's state election. In a report by Australia's Seven Network news service, 7NEWS Australia, Victorian party leader Warren Pickering says: "Transparency will no longer be optional under a One Nation government."
Reporter Kristy Mayr presents the proposed live tracker as an election commitment, not a system already operating. The political segment is part of a midday bulletin whose opening headlines focus on the fatal Learjet crash in Florida, a Melbourne road collision and falling Australian property values.
The broadcast also reports that Nationals leader and Queensland senator Matt Canavan plans to contest the federal seat of Capricornia in 2028. One Nation leader Pauline Hanson rules out running there herself: "No, I'm not running in Capricornia, so I'll give you a direct answer with that one."
In New South Wales, reporter Taylor Aiken covers the start of a firearm buyback programme following the Bondi terror attack. Premier Chris Minns defends the associated legislation, saying: "These laws will save lives."
The bulletin's lead report, from Rob Scott, says all nine people aboard a private Learjet died when it crashed near West Palm Beach while travelling from Texas to the Bahamas. Emergency radio recordings capture the crew declaring a Mayday during a rapid descent. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis says there were no reports of casualties among people on the ground.
Jordan Quinn then reports that a father and a motorcyclist died in a collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV in Brighton East, Melbourne. A separate property segment says Australian house prices are falling at their fastest pace in forty years amid rising interest rates. Political reporter Jasmin Teurlings says interest-rate cuts will be needed before the market begins to stabilise.
The broadcast closes its news coverage with a different street scene: Tonga and Samoa supporters celebrating the Rugby League World Cup in Western Sydney, before the national weather forecast.
