Zach's Tech Turf sticks with Chrome, without the browser loyalty
His everyday choice prompts a much busier discussion about ad blocking, memory use and alternatives.
Why this story? The video drew 1,924 comments in its first day, 5.9 times a normal first day on this channel (324).
Which Browser I Actually Use 👀
Zach from Zach's Tech Turf compares browser loyalty to Pennsylvania's gas-station allegiances: people get territorial about Wawa and Sheetz, and apparently the same goes for the software that opens their tabs. His own explanation is less passionate. Chrome works for him, so he keeps using it.
In "Which Browser I Actually Use 👀", he says he started using Google's browser roughly fifteen years ago and hasn't found a compelling reason to replace it. For a creator whose channel helps people choose and upgrade PC hardware, this is one choice he doesn't feel needs much deliberation.
That doesn't mean Chrome handles everything. Zach says he uses Brave when he wants to avoid ads, and has been leaning toward Firefox for extra security. Neither has displaced his everyday browser.
The response was considerably more involved than his answer. First-day comments came in at nearly six times the channel's usual pace for a Short, while views were ordinary.
Viewers discuss Chrome's memory demands and restrictions on ad blocking, recommend Brave's built-in blocker, and make the case for Firefox as an alternative to browsers built around Chromium. Others put forward Vivaldi, Zen and LibreWolf. One thread questions whether browser performance differences still matter as much as they did in the Internet Explorer era.
Zach's position is simpler than the recommendations beneath the video: a browser that stays out of his way has done its job.

I’ve been playing with Vivaldi and I’m liking it.
@jyax4016See it on YouTubeI use Brave. Don't need anything fancy when it comes to browsers and the default ad blocker works really well.

The numbers
The unusual activity was in the comments, not the views: this browser answer drew a much busier first-day discussion than Zach's typical Short.
