'Damn Andrew, great job editing this week': Waveform's iPhone Duo episode

With producer Adam Molina away, Andrew Manganelli took over the edit, and a slow zoom on Marques became the episode's most quoted moment.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

We Have the iPhone Duo at Home...We Have the iPhone Duo at Home...

Among tech channels close to its size, WVFRM Podcast sits sixth by subscribers but second by views added over the seven days, behind only cheapaudioman. Most of the group ran below its usual pace, and so did Waveform, but its main episode carried it a long way.

That episode, "We Have the iPhone Duo at Home...", is the crew's goodbye to Techtember and hello to Techtober. Marques Brownlee, Andrew Manganelli and David Imel unbox the Xiaomi 18 Fold, revisit street photography with a Dyson toothbrush, try Nothing's new Pro headphones and note yet another delay for the Tesla Roadster, before working through Meta Connect and OpenAI's Dev Day. It has passed 440,000 views in five days.

The comments, though, are about the cut. Viewers worked out that Andrew edited this one while producer Adam Molina was on vacation, and one line of praise for him got repeated so often it turned into a running joke. The moment people mention most is a slow push-in on Marques as he talks about celebrities promoting the iPhone Duo; several viewers half-seriously nominate it for an editing award.

The newest upload is a bonus conversation with Alex Goldman, the former co-host of Reply All, now running his own show, Hyperfixed. He talks about how Reply All grew, what starting over is like, and why he still keeps his podcast off YouTube, an odd confession on a podcast that lives there. Fourteen hours in, it is already the channel's quickest video.
