A ribbed beanie without the bunching: VivCrochets' 'essential' pattern
Viv posted nothing new, and her channel still drew more views than any of the craft channels near her size, with 3,000 new subscribers on top.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Crochet Beanie Tutorial for Beginners
Viv put nothing new up this week, and the channel hardly noticed. Daily views ran a little above their usual level, and close to two million came in over the seven days.
The freshest thing on the channel is "Crochet Beanie Tutorial for Beginners," posted eleven days ago. Viv bills it as "the essential beanie" and the only beanie pattern you'll ever need. The fix it promises is a familiar one: ribbed crochet hats tend to bunch up, and this pattern is built to stop that. It takes three rows, then sizing, stitching and gathering the top, all in under twenty minutes.
Right behind it sits a video from early spring, "Simple Crochet Cardigan Tutorial." It is a drop-shoulder cardigan made from a single stitch and only three pieces, and it is still finding people seven months on. The "Scalloped Crochet Bandana Tutorial" makes up the rest of the top three. It is a granny stitch bandana worked in rows rather than as a triangle, which Viv calls the easiest version there is.
Among the craft channels close to her size, none added more views this week. Kelly Barlow Creations also ran well above its usual pace, while PassioKnit Kelsie, a fellow yarn channel, had a quieter stretch. For someone who says she learned to crochet from YouTube in middle school, a season of hats and cardigans that keeps going with no new upload fits the channel well.

Viv's cardigan is a cold-weather staple. Cashmere, one of the softest yarn fibers, comes from which animal?
Cashmere is the fine undercoat of cashmere goats. Sheep give wool, and alpacas and angora rabbits give their own fibers.
