"The Internet Is Forever": Kelly Barlow pauses her story to answer commenters

The Sunday video set aside her Breaking My Silence series to speak to pointed remarks left under her uploads, and it drew about 35,000 views in its first day.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Kelly Barlow had planned to keep telling her story this Sunday. Instead, the latest Come Sit With Me Sunday stepped away from it. "Before You Comment Again…YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS, THE INTERNET IS FOREVER!" went up on October 4. Her description explains why: she has been receiving pointed comments, often unrelated to the video they appear under, and she wanted to address them directly before going on.

The video had about 35,000 views by the end of its first day. Under it, viewers are writing about their own losses: a son gone nine years, a mother gone thirty, a daughter, a husband, a grandchild. Again and again they come back to one idea, that grief does not run on anyone else's schedule. Several write directly about Ray, the son Kelly has spoken about in the series, and ask her to keep talking.

The series is still drawing viewers on its own. Part 1 of "Breaking My Silence," posted 16 days ago, has passed 160,000 views and is still bringing in a few thousand a day. Part 2 follows behind it. Between the two Sundays, Kelly also posted a Costco run with fall decor and a round of home organizing, the kind of video this channel was built on.

Taken together, the channel is drawing close to three times its usual daily views. Among the craft channels near its size, VivCrochets had the biggest week by far, and Sewing Circle had a week much like this one.
