Leah Sava Jeffries separates Percabeth from her own life

A fast-starting Variety interview clip draws a clear distinction between enjoying a fictional romance and pairing up the actors.

Leah Sava Jeffries shuts down rumors that she ships herself with #PercyJackson's Walker Scobell

"I ship Percy and Annabeth, mind you, not Walker and Leah," Leah Sava Jeffries says, making a distinction she wants settled before her press tour begins.

In the Variety excerpt, the Percy Jackson and the Olympians actor explains that she and co-star Walker Scobell agreed to make that boundary clear in interviews. Their affection is for the relationship Rick Riordan wrote. "We both think Percabeth is a beautiful relationship," she says, using the nickname readers give Percy and Annabeth's pairing.

The interviewer clarifies that her question was about the characters, too. Jeffries wants to head off misunderstandings when pieces of their interviews become fan edits, rather than leave the distinction unspoken.

The Short reached about 91,000 views in its first eleven hours, already far beyond the fewer than 6,000 a Variety Short typically receives across its whole first day.

The excerpt comes from a longer conversation with Variety's Tiana DeNicola. That interview also covers playing Annabeth, a Season 3 preview, Jeffries's role in Cheetah Girls: Next Gen and her rap skills, with the Percabeth discussion arriving around the twenty-six-minute mark.
