Video taking off 17x its usual first day

'First Team to the Finish Line Wins!', and viewers spot The Smily Fam's cameraman on screen

The comments are less about who won the race than about the person who usually films it, and a familiar voice that finally has a face.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 515,730 views a day, 17 times a normal first day on this channel (29,983).

The Smily Fam's newest race short passed 400,000 views within fifteen hours of going up. Most new shorts on this channel finish their entire first day far below that.

The comment section explains part of the pull. Many viewers write that the man who is usually behind the camera is in front of it this time. Several say they first mistook him for another regular, and one admits the player in the blue shirt sounded oddly familiar until it clicked. Another jokes that nobody is talking about the game at all. In those fifteen hours the video collected about five times as many comments as a typical short here gathers in a full day.

The game itself is as simple as the title: teams racing to be first across a finish line. Viewers mention an ending they did not see coming, and one player's dancing and shouting gets its own share of laughing replies.

The channel kept its usual pace and posted five more shorts the next day. Two Halloween Edition games were among them, and a cup-matching round and a boys-versus-girls balloon pop drew the biggest early crowds of the batch. With the channel only a step away from five million subscribers, one viewer has already suggested a Q&A to mark it. The cameraman could take some of the questions.
