Avi Lewis, the National Post and a word in quotes: David Doel's three uploads

A column the description says calls to 'deal' with the NDP leader drew David's attention, between a concert shirt in Massachusetts and a hijacking story in the skies.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Three uploads went up on The Rational National, and the one closest to home is about a single word. In "National Post Calls To 'Deal' With Avi Lewis In Dangerous Piece," David Doel takes on a column by Yoni Goldstein about the NDP leader. The chapters move from Lewis explaining his position to the piece itself and then to how others reacted. Lewis arrives with a famous political name: his father, Stephen Lewis, led Ontario's NDP, and his grandfather David Lewis led the federal party. Before politics he was best known as a broadcaster and documentary filmmaker.

The Zach Bryan video from Saturday, which we covered here, is still the channel's main draw at about a quarter of a million views. It covers the country singer and his band wearing pro-Palestine shirts at Robert Kraft's Gillette Stadium. Under it, a lot of commenters say they don't usually listen to country and are now going to look him up, and Macklemore's name keeps coming up as well.

The third upload looks at the FlyDubai hijacking attempt and how Benjamin Netanyahu has handled the story a month before an election. It includes a chapter on a pilot's view of the incident. Among older videos, a Flock surveillance piece from the week before keeps bringing in viewers. That one centers on the CEO whose home was relabeled "Public Toilet" on Google Maps.

It was a slow week overall. Daily views ran at well under half the channel's usual level, and the subscriber count stayed at 781,000. Many political channels of similar size were quieter than usual too. Dan Wootton Outspoken had the biggest week in the group, and TYT Investigates was the one channel running above its normal pace.
