The Minimal Mom has a phrase ready for the holiday task nobody wants to do: "We're just taking the year off." It comes after the wardrobe, dishes and gift-wrap advice in Dawn's only new upload this week, a guide that makes room for doing less as well as getting organized.
"5 Holiday Tasks You Can Set & Forget (Do These NOW!)" has reached nearly 100,000 views. Dawn starts with a holiday uniform of comfortable, coordinating clothes, then moves through standardized appreciation gifts, daily dishes, repeating dinner categories and a wrapping station with reusable fabric bags. The point isn't a more elaborate celebration. It's fewer decisions to make every day.
The later conversations give that practical checklist a human wrinkle. Christine of Frugal Fit Mom recalls planning an exhausting holiday-break trip across Canada, only to discover her children were fine with canceling it. Dawn's answer is brief: "Ask, don't assume." Her twin sister Diana then joins her to roleplay short responses to intrusive family questions, without turning every answer into a defense.
Viewers are trading their own ways of simplifying: planning party food once, replacing elaborate Christmas meals with Chinese food, and asking gift recipients what they actually want. Teachers also weigh in on gift cards rather than another mug.
The new guide is the channel's busiest video by daily views, followed by "If I had One Hour in Your House, I'd declutter this before Christmas!" and "7 Tiny Organizing Changes That Make a HUGE Difference." Subscribers were unchanged over the week, and daily viewing is below its usual level. Among nearby home channels, Homeworthy had a much busier week, while The Minimal Mom's viewing remained on the quieter side.

Love the ask don't assume...I kept giving the same gift to my mother-in-law every Christmas because it seemed like she loved it. I decided to ask directly and not assume and she actually told me she does not prefer that gift and so I was able to switch gears and stop making myself crazy making this thing for her that she didn't even want or use. It was awesome
@erinamerling1017See it on YouTubeI use to have a fancy Christmas eve and Christmas day meals and it was exhausting and expensive! For the last 6 years Christmas day is comfy clothes, games, movie, fireplace, naps and Chinese food for dinner! Best change I ever made!

One thing that has helped me for the holiday season is listing out all the parties and get together and deciding the food once! Then I can have fun going through recipes and grocery shopping and not panic. I can decide when I have time for an elaborate recipe or something quick. I can also double up recipes that are going two different places. Less stress, better food, simple plan.
@KayeAlthaus-ie3vpSee it on YouTubeI soooo agree. Teachers certainly can't use or keep all the coffee mugs they get! But a gift card they can use anytime! 🎉
@lindaanderson4990See it on YouTubeIf you need cheapy cellophane for a smallish gift basket, roasting bags are cheap and look great tied together with some ribbon.
