A card game called Personal Space opens The Up Studio's design masterclass

The Local Project's one new upload is five lessons from a New York practice, while a Hudson Valley farmhouse tour carries the channel's traffic.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

The Local Project posted one video this week, and it is not a house tour. "What Architects Wish You Knew Before Building a Home (Design Masterclass)" sits down with The Up Studio, a New York practice that designs custom modern homes, and walks through five lessons: talk openly, let the design evolve, trust your architect, set the budget early, and expect the timeline to slip.

The most charming detail is how the studio starts. It plays a card game with clients, called Personal Space, to find out who they are before anyone talks about rooms. Projects such as Sight Sea Residence and a Brooklyn-style townhouse called Brick Breaker turn up as examples, along with a reminder that Hudson Valley snow and frozen ground can stall a build. In the comments, the card game is the thing people want to hear more about, the studio itself drops in to say it enjoyed nerding out, and one practical viewer suggests adding a fifth to whatever budget you have.

The real momentum, though, belongs to last week's tour. "Architect Designs a Modern Farmhouse Connected to Nature (House Tour)" visits Ralston Architects' Oak Tree House at Silo Ridge, a long, barn-like home among maples up to a century old, with a Japanese-inspired garden, a sauna and rain chains. Eight days in, it is past 400,000 views and drawing several times what anything else on the channel does. Further back, Rob Mills' Murray River Residence in Albury is still finding viewers.

Overall the channel ran a little below its usual pace, with more than a million views across the week and subscribers holding steady. Among similar-sized home and building channels, Engineezy and Blacktail Studio Uncut are having the loud weeks, and The Luxury Home Show lands almost exactly where The Local Project does.
