'Useful Brick and Mortar Tricks for Construction' lays a quick foundation for Beamish
A second short of simple-material hacks from the same day also ran well ahead, while the comment section under the bricks has barely made a sound.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 169,375 views a day, 13 times a normal first day on this channel (12,674).

Beamish's newest brick short reached more than 120,000 views in its first thirteen hours. A new short on the channel usually ends its whole first day at around 13,000.
Beamish is a clips channel. It posts a steady stream of short how-to videos, and the title does not say who is holding the trowel. This one is billed as practical brick and mortar techniques "for strong and precise results," and its tags keep things simple: DIY, mortar, tricks. The channel runs on that kind of everyday craft. The other uploads around it turn plastic bottles into household helpers, patch and remake clothes, and give old materials a second life.
It was not the only October 2 short to get going. "Creative DIY Hacks Using Simple Materials" finished its first full day several times above the channel's usual start. It is a long way behind the bricks, but still a good day by Beamish's standards. Saturday's three new uploads are still in their first hours.
The likes kept pace with the views. The comments did not: the short has gathered just a couple, which is about what any Beamish short collects on its first day. People watch these videos for the hands at work, and few of them stop to type.
The whole channel had a bigger day than the one we described here last weekend, when the wire, wood and bolt tricks kept its huge back catalog ticking over. Among DIY channels near its size, Simone Giertz is running at about twice her usual pace, while TheSorryGirls and President Chay are a little quieter than usual. Beamish's daily audience is still many times larger than any of theirs.
