A paper iPhone that really scrolls, with Sprunki on the screen, for The Koalas JJ
The cardboard short from late August is closing in on a million views, and an egg-and-spoon race built from paper cups is climbing beside it.
Why this story? The video is running at 409,198 views a day, 22 times its usual pace (18,313).
How to make a scrolling iPhone out of paper! DIY Easy Kid Craft Idea #cartoon #iphone
Nearly half of the views on "How to make a scrolling iPhone out of paper!" arrived in a single day. The short went up at the end of August, spent five weeks moving at a modest pace, and now sits just short of a million views.
The idea is simple and hard to resist. The description promises a miniature iPhone made from cardboard that actually scrolls, and the thing on the screen is Sprunki. That is the cast of characters from the fan-made version of the music game Incredibox, and the channel brings them back again and again. The Koalas JJ is fronted by Jake and Jovi, a pair of cartoon koala twins who host easy paper crafts meant for kids and "kids at heart," and Sprunki turns up in almost everything they make. A squishy pizza pencil holder, a dancing paper trick, a Halloween guess-the-monster drawing: all of them carry the same characters.
The phone was not the only older short climbing. "Make a Sprunki Egg and Spoon Racing Game from Paper Cups!", posted earlier in August, also ran well past its usual pace and has passed half a million views. So both of the channel's busiest videos were summer uploads, and both rest on the same pairing of paper with Sprunki.
The lift showed across the whole channel, which had a noticeably bigger day than usual. The channel's newer shorts, a paper Pokémon Charizard among them, are moving at a calmer pace. On this channel, it is a cardboard phone that will never take a call that is doing most of the work.
