Green under the peach: Nat's color theory face trick for Her Million Doodles

She laid down a dim green marker first and built the skin tones on top, and some viewers think they recognize the face.

On a usual day, Her Million Doodles draws somewhere under 40,000 views. Right now the channel is running at about twice that, and most of the push comes from a video that is almost a month old.

That one is "Pause OC Art Challenge! 😱 I Created My Own Character!", Nat's take on the pause-the-screen game she credits to Love2DrawManga: viewers stop the video to land on the features of their own original character, and she draws hers in alcohol markers. Twenty-five days in, it is still pulling in more daily views than anything newer on the channel.

Of the three uploads this week, the color theory short did best. The idea is simple and a little counterintuitive: she starts a portrait with a Dim Green marker, then layers Pastel Peach over it, using the red-green pairing of complementary colors to build shadow and depth in the skin. It passed 34,000 views on its first day. The comments are mostly a guessing game about who the face resembles, with Archie Andrews, Tom Holland and someone's Australian uncle all in the running.

The other two were blind-pick challenges, where Nat closes her eyes, grabs two markers and has to make a stylish Pinterest-style guy work with them. Orange with bronze green came first, then fluorescent green with brilliant blue, a pairing she says barely wants to blend.

Among art and craft channels of her size she sits in the middle of the group, while The Koalas JJ and Create by K are having the louder weeks.
