Chief's one new Minecraft video passed 350,000 views on its first day, and its comment section is already designing the next batch of bases.
That Chief GuyStory of Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Minecraft GENIUS vs 10 Secret Bases
Among the Minecraft creators close to his size, That Chief Guy sits third by subscribers and fourth by views gained over the week. That is a respectable spot, though it hides how lively the past few days have been: his channel is now pulling in several times its usual daily views.
The reason is a single upload. "Minecraft GENIUS vs 10 Secret Bases" brings in Fundy, the Minecraft creator known for his elaborate builds and his years on the Dream SMP, to crack ten hidden bases. Chief's description simply wonders how Fundy ever agreed to it. The video passed 350,000 views in its first day.
The comments read like a highlight reel. Viewers keep pointing to the moment Chief scrambles to hide a piston left in plain sight, to Fundy somehow killing a mob that should not die, and above all to a mock dating segment between the two that many say made them laugh hardest. A base built around the Tree of Harmony earned credit for Chief's research. Plenty of others are busy pitching bases of their own, from villager economies to lava-reset death counters.
The formula has a track record here. "Testing MORE of Your "Impossible" Escape Rooms", with Knarfy as the willing victim, has passed a million views in a little over two weeks and is still moving. A month-old round of viewer secret base ideas keeps ticking along behind both.
