A Minecraft build turned into a real-life purchase for the Azelart brothers
Ben and Julien Azelart's gaming channel posted nothing new, and a June challenge with a buy-it-in-real-life promise did the most work.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
If You Build it, I'll Buy It!
No uploads, no slowdown. Stay Wild Gaming, the Minecraft side of Ben Azelart's Stay Wild world, went the week without a new video and still ran a little above its usual daily pace, adding close to a million views across the seven days.
The video doing most of that is "If You Build it, I'll Buy It!", posted in June. The premise is in the description: whatever gets built in Minecraft, Ben buys in real life. His brother Julien is tagged and credited alongside him, as he is on most of the channel. More than three months on, it is still the busiest thing here.
Behind it sit two more brother-against-brother builds. "I Built Minecraft's Deadliest Traps!" is the newest of the three, from August. "I Built Minecraft's Most Hidden Base!" is the oldest, from the spring, and it has the biggest total of the lot, past three and a half million views. Its setup is a one-hour race to hide as many secret rooms as possible, with a hundred dollars on the line for every room Ben fails to find.
Subscribers kept climbing at an even clip, around six thousand for the week, which leaves the channel at 946,000. Among Minecraft creators of a similar size, Stay Wild Gaming sat comfortably in the middle by views gained. LookOut2DD and Freshlol had the busiest weeks, That Chief Guy ran several times faster than his usual, and Shubble was unusually quiet.
