'i hate camping.' passes two million for a van-life veteran turned desert mom
Sydney Ferbrache posted nothing new, and a three-week-old tent video kept her channel busier than usual.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
i hate camping.
More than two million views, and counting, for a video called "i hate camping." That is a funny title for Sydney Ferbrache, who spent six years living in a van full-time before, as her channel puts it, trading the road for life in the desert. These days she films motherhood, routines and the small moments in between, and a tent seems to have crept back in.
No new uploads went up this week, and the channel hardly noticed. Daily views ran above their usual pace, and nearly all of that came from one place: the camping video, now three weeks old, still pulls in well over thirty thousand views a day on its own.
Its two companions from the same stretch, "waking up in a tent." and "what my tent looks like.", are moving much more gently, the first a little ahead of the second. Perhaps viewers who arrive for the complaint stay to see the tent itself?
The subscriber count sat still at 909,000. Among travel channels of a similar size, it was a modest week in views: Michael Drake had by far the busiest seven days, and Steven Ndukwu also ran above his usual pace, while several bigger names, Jeb Brooks among them, were calmer than normal. For Sydney, a quiet calendar and one stubborn tent video were enough to keep things moving.
