Bourbon Street from a balcony and a Costa Brava cove join EarthCam's live lineup
The New Orleans view went up on September 28, followed two days later by a new camera at a sailing club in Tamariu, Spain.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
EarthCam Live: New Orleans Balcony View
A typical day on EarthCam brings in a little over 200,000 views, spread across a network of live cameras that never really switch off. This week ran gentler than that, at roughly two-thirds of the usual pace. Even so, the channel added more views than all but one of the travel channels near its size. Michael Drake had the big week. EarthCam came in second, ahead of Sailing SV Delos and Court and Nate.
Three new streams went up, and the one doing most of the work is "EarthCam Live: New Orleans Balcony View," a perch above the city's party heart. Its tags point to Bourbon Street, and its description still promises Mardi Gras. That is months away, but the street clearly does not need a parade to draw a crowd.
The newcomer is "EarthCam Live: Tamariu, Spain," a camera at Club Nautic Tamariu looking over a small cove on the Costa Brava. The description talks up regattas and swimming races in summer, so October viewers are getting the quieter, rustic side of the coast. A rotating "Trending Cams" stream rounded out the uploads.
One older camera keeps pulling people in. The Salmon River stream from Pulaski, New York, is nearly three weeks old and still one of the busiest on the channel. That fits the calendar: early fall is when salmon push upriver from Lake Ontario, and the anglers come with them. Subscribers moved only slightly, up by about a thousand.
