Les Stroud takes The Question of Bigfoot into the edit
Barry Farrell and Luke Dumaine join the editing work while Stroud finishes pickup interviews for his documentary.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
UPDATE | The Question of Bigfoot
The edit has begun. Les Stroud is finishing last-minute interviews while working with Barry Farrell and Luke Dumaine on The Question of Bigfoot, a film he says has taken a full year longer than expected.
Walking through the woods in "UPDATE | The Question of Bigfoot," he says, "We're diving headfirst into the edit." The upload is also a crowdfunding campaign promotion, but it offers a concrete production update: Stroud promises weekly companion uploads that won't spoil the documentary. He traces the project back to his Bigfoot series, which began in 2014, and says his investigations have changed his perspective.
At roughly 146,000 views, the update is the most watched of his three uploads this week and the channel's busiest video right now. Among the comments are memories of watching Survivorman growing up and messages from backers who have followed the film's development.
Robert Maxwell supplies another strand of the week's Bigfoot discussion in "Cabin in The Woods ftr by Les Stroud | The Truth About Bigfoot is WAY Bigger Than We Thought." Maxwell questions the idea of Bigfoot as simply an undiscovered ape, drawing on reported encounters and Indigenous traditions. An older Cabin in The Woods upload featuring Fred Roehl's accounts from Alaska also remains among the channel's strongest daily draws. A separate upload announces channel memberships.
The channel added about 2,000 subscribers over the week, matching nearby Kyle Hates Hiking's gain. Daily viewing is close to Stroud's usual level, while Josh the Intern and Kyle Hates Hiking are having slower-than-usual days. For Stroud, the week's main activity is concentrated around a film moving from fieldwork toward the editing room.
