What happens after a missing man is found alive? Kyle Hates Hiking's new documentary follows Robert Bogucki beyond his extraordinary desert survival to the arguments surrounding his rescue, then to a much later meeting with someone who searched for him.
Bogucki set out into Western Australia's Great Sandy Desert in 1999 on a wilderness fast inspired by his faith. An abandoned bicycle and supplies prompted a search. Kyle follows Aboriginal tracker Merridoo Walbidi's work, the suspension and resumption of search efforts, and the rock message Bogucki eventually left asking for help. A Channel 9 helicopter crew found him alive.
The film's most quietly meaningful detail comes near the end: Bogucki returned to Australia in 2025 to thank those involved, including Walbidi. That acknowledgment gives the story a destination beyond the rescue itself. The video includes a paid sponsor segment.
"The EXACT Moment a Missing Man's Secret Obsession Was Revealed…" was the channel's sole upload of the week and has reached about 146,000 views. It is also Kyle's busiest video right now. September's Marco Siffredi documentary remains active behind it, followed by the earlier upload about missing outdoor influencers Justin Shelter and Joe Domin.
Across the channel, viewing is running above its usual daily level, and the week's subscriber gain has brought Kyle within roughly 2,000 subscribers of a million. Nearby outdoor storytellers Josh the Intern and Survivorman - Les Stroud also gained subscribers, though both are drawing fewer daily views than usual. For Kyle, the fresh desert documentary is doing the most work as that milestone approaches.
