Shaun Murphy's break-off, borrowed by a seven-time world champion
Stephen Hendry tried the Magician's way of opening a frame, and the result left him briefly lost for words, with nearly 700,000 views to show for it.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
PERFECT Break-Off?! 😍
Can Stephen Hendry still surprise himself on a snooker table? Going by "PERFECT Break-Off?! 😍", yes. The description says he was trying Shaun Murphy's style of breaking off, and the shot came out so clean that the most liked comment jokes he forgot what he was about to say. It is closing in on 700,000 views, and a week on it is still the channel's busiest video by a distance.
The comments read like a pub debate with a legend at the table. Many say the man forgets how good he is. Others take up a question one viewer put to the room: if you could perfect any shot, wouldn't it be this one? Murphy, the 2005 world champion known as the Magician, is famous for a heavy, low break-off, so borrowing it is a nice nod from one Crucible winner to another.
The other two uploads belong to the channel's prize challenges, where Hendry sets two amateur players shots to make. "Make the Shot, Win the Cue" says the stakes in its title, and "Sounds Beautiful 😍" is the newest round.
The channel as a whole ran slower than its usual pace, adding about a thousand subscribers on the way to 453,000. Even so, among the sports channels close to it in size, only TNT Sports Cycling and the AFL gathered more views over the week, and Break from Life, the other snooker channel nearby, had a quieter run.
