Romford, Rye and a subarctic map: Squirrel opens Transport Fever 3

Seven uploads went to the new game, from a numbered Let's Play to weekend Hard Mode streams under the #YOTS12 tag.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Squirrel's whole week belonged to one game. Transport Fever 3 arrived, and the simulation creator, who describes his channel as family-friendly, met it with a fresh Let's Play series set in the Subarctic climate, three numbered episodes in a row, and a run of Hard Mode streams across Saturday and Sunday.

The fourth episode, "Refinement," was the week's most watched upload. Its comment section is a snapshot of launch day: some of the top comments count down to the game's release, because the episode went up before most viewers could play. The rest reads like a planning meeting. Viewers argue that the stone train should unload at the port's warehouse instead of handing off to trucks, remind him that a bus stop in Rye's industrial area is still not connected, and grumble about how the game handles vehicle maintenance. One joke stands out: if cabbage and fuel can fly through the air in this game, why do passengers need a footpath? And a viewer who grew up near Romford is simply happy to see it on the map.

The video still doing the most work, though, came before all of this. "10 Tips and Tricks for Transport Fever 3," now past 200,000 views, walks through placement, supply chains, warehouses and workers, the sort of guide new players look for in a game's first days. Sunday's Hard Mode stream, a few hours old, is the quickest starter of the week.

Overall the channel ran a bit slower than usual and added about 2,000 subscribers. Among strategy and simulation channels of a similar size, it gained the third most views. PragMagik and iSorrowproductions had the big weeks, and Deligracy and United Plays were on the quieter side.

What viewers say

  • One hour left, soon we'll be able to play it!

  • I'm surprised you need a foot path for passengers to travel between a bus stop and a train station. By this game's logic I would have expected them to be shot through the air like the cabbage and fuel! 😁
  • I grew up near Romford so I’m very happy it’s one of the towns on your map
