Link Lauren calls "short-term pain" a losing midterm message
His Republican postmortem puts candidate choices, household costs and congressional inaction at the center of the defeat.

I love this country too much to sugarcoat things. Here’s why we just lost the midterms 🇺🇸
"We did that to ourselves," Link Lauren says, refusing to treat Republican midterm losses as something the party could not have avoided.
His short election postmortem reached roughly a quarter-million views in 23 hours, around six times the channel's usual first-day audience for Shorts. The comment section was even further outside its routine, with more than eight times the usual first-day comments before a full day had passed.
Lauren starts with candidates. "First, we had a major candidate quality problem in our party," he says, singling out Ken Paxton in Texas and Vivek Ramaswamy in Ohio for criticism. But his explanation soon moves beyond individual campaigns to the bills voters face.
"That is a referendum on gas, diesel, affordability, housing, and cost of living," he says. His objection to the promise of short-term pain for long-term gain is straightforward: it was not a persuasive message heading into Election Day.
Viewers' responses pick up several of those threads, particularly candidate selection, affordability and frustration over legislation that did not pass. Those are subjects of the discussion, not proof of what decided the election.
For a channel whose best-watched regular uploads lean heavily toward Hollywood and royal commentary, this is a distinctly Washington-focused draw. Lauren finishes his argument by questioning why the Republican congressional majority did not turn more of Donald Trump's executive-order agenda into law: "Did Congress do anything to codify his agenda?"
