Speed Academy's Tundra retires from towing, not from Dave's driveway

A brake line twists, snaps, and adds another job to Speed Academy's Tundra repair list. Peter Tarach's explanation to Dave Pratte is short: "It's the rust, DP. It's where we live."
That exchange captures the channel's only upload this week, "The Problem With Owning a 410,000KM Toyota Tundra". The truck has actually passed that mileage by the time Dave introduces it. Dependability isn't the only question anymore: age and corrosion keep making otherwise manageable repairs more involved.
The hosts replace seized front brakes, leaking shocks and lower control arms, then work through a dead battery and an air-conditioning relay problem. Even after a wash, the truck finds another way back into the workshop. A squeal turns out to involve a failed pulley and a shredded serpentine belt. The video also includes a Continental tire partnership.
The eventual decision is more practical than sentimental. Dave plans to keep the Tundra for personal use, but retire it from shop duty while looking for a newer tow vehicle. Several viewers draw that same distinction between a truck you'd happily keep fixing at home and one needed for dependable long-distance work. Others remember buying their own Tundras after watching this one.
The episode has reached roughly 112,000 views and is the channel's busiest video right now. The horsepower-doubled CRV and dream-spec S2000 builds also continue drawing viewers. Daily viewing across Speed Academy is above its usual level, while the subscriber count was unchanged over the week.
Among nearby motoring channels, Garbage Time is enjoying a substantial viewing lift, while Sparks Motors is running below its usual daily pace. Speed Academy's week belongs to a less glamorous garage question: when a much-loved project also has a job, how long should it keep doing both?

What viewers say
I think you guys already said it best. As a personal vehicle I'd drive it until the wheels fell off. As a commercial vehicle it logistically makes sense to have something newer.
@TimHaunFishingSee it on YouTubeLove to see the Tundra back on the channel! Still funny to think about how this influenced me to buy mine. Have run into mostly the same issues (minus the rust related stuff). Will be sad to see it go away from the channel, but I get why you want to move to a newer rig!
@BrunerTunerSee it on YouTubeChecking in with 85k miles on mine - sounds like plenty of time to go.

I would drive it as a daily until the wheels fall off and let the world know just how strong the Tundra was! 🤝
@silverbulletS197See it on YouTubeFinally some relatable automotive youtube content! daily struggle working on rusty cars up here in Sweden 🙂
@danielnilsson1792See it on YouTubeIf it was just for personal use, I’d say keep it, but when you need it for work and towing, I’d say you guys made the right choice. Otherwise, you’d have to constantly fix it, which mean you’d have to make the repairs into content to help justify continually repairing it lol
@dlee6985See it on YouTubeKeep the Toyota going! Makes great content. Honestly it’s the main reason why I watch the channel.
