Flowers after the game and a ticket to Durham on SportsCenter NEXT

ESPN's youth sports channel posted seven clips, from a postgame bouquet to an Ohio State offensive line commit, and added 10,000 subscribers.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

SportsCenter NEXT has more subscribers than any of the American sports channels around it, about one and a half million, but its week sits near the bottom of that group for views gained. That gap says something about the channel's job. ESPN's youth sports home deals in short clips credited to the people who filmed them, and those rarely travel as far as an NFL highlight or a talk-show rant.

The most watched of the seven uploads was a sweet one: a young player surprising a girl with flowers after a game. Its comments include a gentle debate over whether the bouquet looked more like a fistful of cilantro. A day later, a clip of one player feeding another the ball every single time became the channel's fastest mover.

Recruiting filled the rest. An Ohio State offensive tackle commit, billed in the title as a man among boys, is pushing the newest clips along, and a basketball prospect is headed to Durham, North Carolina, home of Duke.

Views held right at their usual level. Around it, SPORTSNET and The Rich Eisen Show had big weeks, while ESPN College Football ran quieter than usual.
