Saving Private Ryan: Matt Damon's iconic "Why me?" scene
Matt Damon gets an order to go home; Hugh Jackman gets to deliver some tough love. SBS On Demand marked both actors' birthdays with film scenes, two very different selections within a week of 15 uploads.
The Damon selection, "Saving Private Ryan: Matt Damon's iconic \"Why me?\" scene", was the week's most watched new upload, reaching nearly a quarter-million views. Tom Hanks's Captain Miller tells Ryan he is being sent home after his brothers' deaths, but Ryan refuses to abandon the soldiers defending the bridge. The scene remains the channel's biggest source of daily views.
Close behind it in present-day momentum is "Nansie: A candid conversation about living with dementia". Its description poses a direct question about whether someone would recognize dementia in themselves. It is drawing almost as many daily views as the Ryan clip, despite a much smaller opening-day audience.
Elsewhere, Reese Witherspoon's Elena and Kerry Washington's Mia confront each other in Little Fires Everywhere, while Inside Sydney Fish Market turns to the friendships and routines behind the old market's final day. The channel added subscribers over the week, though today's viewing pace is well below its usual level. Among nearby television channels, Rick and Morty had the largest weekly view gain; SBS On Demand had the next largest.
The Jackman birthday pick, "Eddie the Eagle qualifies for the Olympics", supplies a different kind of pressure: his coach challenges Taron Egerton's determined ski jumper to take himself seriously. It is the third most active video on the channel right now.
